A Prayer to St. Dymphna
To St. Dymphna, patron saint of
suicide:
Subdue the splintered sorrows in
the shatters of the mind
Smite the slaughter of the soul so
to death will death die
Settle the ocean of sad that
swims the depths of this flesh
Soothe the tremors of the body and
the earthquakes in the bones
Sing the skin to heal the
unfading of the 15 year bruise
Stitch the swelling sore with
strings of blazing light
Chain the devil at the feet and
prick his neck with a sword
Chant the gentle cure and
patch the heart with gold
Dear St. Dymphna,
make me well.
